I like going to carytown, fan district, shockoe bottom, short pump, and partying in different places. Mountains and beach are close and weather is nice.

There's so much to do - tubing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, or just lounging on the rocks getting some sun. It is also a very dog friendly city here... some places will have free treats for your furry friends! The food scene here is great as well, plenty of variety. My favorite place for happy hour is Rappahannock for fresh oysters. The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing has great food with an amazing view too. There are also a lot of new craft breweries that have recently opened up for the beer lovers. There's also very easy access to the beach or the mountains on a day off!

Jubin Karimi

Medical School: Ross University
Undergraduate School: University of Massachusetts - Amherst
Career interest: Consult & Liaison
Some things I like about Richmond: Friendly sense of community, Outdoor activities
Why I chose VCU: My answer to this is really from why I chose psychiatry to begin with: and that was because out of all the rotations that I did as a medical student, psychiatry was the only one which I went home at the end of the day actually feeling happy and looking forward to tomorrow. When I interviewed at VCU, I got to meet and spend time with residents, attending’s, floor staff and of course our program director and chair. I left Richmond that day feeling as if I would be happy living and working here for the next four years.
